Now imagine that in California. Just kidding, the lowest I’ve seen is $2.3o ish from the sketchy gas stations...most is about $2.80...which is still a far cry from the $4.50 of a year ago or so...

I have a friend visiting from Cali, and he was alrady impressed to see gas at $2.23 - I was impressed when it got to $2.09 on labor day, and now it’s blowing minds at $1.99.

Gas station at the Randall’s near me was often below $2 when I lived in Austin in 2013 and 2014.

This was just the posted price (though cash/debit only, credit was more). Discount was on top of that.

Meanwhile in Japan, it costs about 4.2$ per gallon for regular and 4.5$ per gallon for Premium which I have to put in my car...
And did I mention my car gets 19mpg on a good day if I don’t drive too fast and 14mpg average driving normally :D
My gas budget is NOT fun lol
it could be worse though, in Norway regular is around 6.8$ per gallon

Huh, I drove by the one on ben white regularly and never saw it that low. I would guess they only price them against competition so maybe that one was higher than others.

It wasn’t that long ago that prices were at $4 for regular here - that’s what’s astonishing.

Yeah, the one on Ben White and Manchaca is the one I went to. It was more normal for it to be $2.20-2.30, but it wasn’t uncommon for it to be below $2 (coming from the Northeast it was a bit shocking, and warped my perception, now I feel like I’m getting ripped off at a station that charges $2.35 for regular.)

I remember seing gas prices around 190yen here or 6$ per gallon, but I don’t think it goes much highrer than that...

In 1995 dollars, gas is $1.27.... not quite as cheap as the 90’s, but getting pretty damn close.
